DC Blox, a leading provider of data center and network services, celebrated the grand opening of its new cable landing station in Myrtle Beach on Oct. 11.
During the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees heard from representatives from DC BLOX, Meta, and Google, as well as state and local leaders, including S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster, Horry County Council Chairman Johnny Gardner and Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune.
The $31.5 million, 125,000-square-foot facility is located at the International Technology and Aerospace Park near Myrtle Beach International Airport and has the capacity to host up to five subsea cables. At press time, three subsea cables have been announced – two with Google and one with Meta, the parent company of Facebook. These cables will significantly enhance Myrtle Beach’s digital connectivity and position the city as a major hub for global data traffic.

A cable landing station is a critical facility that connects submarine cables to terrestrial networks. It enables the transmission of large amounts of data and power between different parts of the world, supporting a wide range of applications, including internet access, telecommunications, financial transactions, energy transmission, scientific research, and national security.
